For lift trucks nowadays, there are numerous attachment options offered. Nearly all attachments are made to be used on regular lift trucks and are made to be used on reach trucks and VNA. It is important to note that OSHA needs approval for any type of attachment which should be approved for use by the particular lift truck manufacturer.
The most essential common attachment is the sideshift and is considered to be standard device. The sideshift device enables the fork carriage to slide left and right as well as allow for more accurate load positioning. The sideshift enables the operator to be more versatile with the machine.
The fork positioner is a different attachment choice that allows the operator to adjust the distance between the forks without having to get off of the truck. This specific attachment is mainly utilized in high volume operations where there is a huge range of pallet and crate sizes handled.
Fork pivots makes it possible for the forks and carriage to rotate or pivot. These attachments can be specially designed for transporting and dumping hoppers. These attachments are really helpful for various industrial operations.
The slip sheet attachment is utilized to slip sheets of paperboard, or plastic or a sheet of cardboard that is used rather than pallets. The slip sheet attachments use a push and pull device which clamps onto the slip sheet and pulls the load onto a thin platform. Afterwards, the load is pushed off the platform when the truck reaches the destination.
Drum handling attachments come in many different designs. They are many different models attached to handle 55 gallon drums. There are some smaller versions of a paper roll clamps which go around the roll and also are capable of a full 360 degree rotation. There are other drum attachments which could pick up various drums all at once.
One more option is tilt control, which allows the operator to preset the fork tilt angles. For extensions slide over the forks to help lift and move longer loads. The Carton clamp operates similar to a paper roll clamp except rather than being circular, the clamping surface is flat.
